The Luke Training Mission - Combat Training, Close Support, Tactics, Air Defense, Gunnery, and Ground Training. Activated in 1941, Luke Field became the largest Single-engine Fighter Training School in the United States Army Air Corps during WW2. Advanced training in the AT-6, P-40, P-38, and F-51. Home to the Gila Bend Gunnery Range. Reactivated in 1951, due to the hostilities of Korea - Fighter Bomber/Escort combat Training for the F-84, C Thunderjet, F-84 G, and F-84 F. Photos of all activiities - AACS and Weather, Aircraft Maintence, Supply, Transport, Air Base Group, Air Installations, Food Service, Recreation, USAF Hospital. Please see pictures before bidding. The case is made out of a very stiff canvas the flags on the outside flap are the places he went. The flag on the inside flap is where he wished he was. The album contains over 55 page with photos on both sides. The front part is filled with half naked native girls, planes, dead bodies, destruction & the pin up girls painted on the planes. There are a few pictures which appear to be a U.S.O show of some sort. The decal stencil is made from very high quality acrylic vinyl with tacky backing, which in laymans terms means its re-usable! It is being sold to do one helmet which is one use, on the front of the helmet! However, I have been using one of these decals on several helmets and it is still going strong, thats how durable it is! Stick on or transfer War Correspondent's Decals were NEVER used during WW2, they were all hand or spray painted using stencils! In the pictures below I have used white paint only to show the quality of the final finish, although some Correspondents stencils were white, most were black as generally they did not want to make the centre of their head a good target! Finally - This stencil template is pretty hard to get hold off, due to the fact that helmet repainters like to keep them away from the general public!

CDV CAPT. ABNER DOUBLEDAY CIVIL WAR BRADY PHOTO
This is a rare Civil War CDV carte de visite of Captain Abner Doubleday. As can be seen from the back stamp, the albumen photograph is from a negative by Matthew Brady ("Brady's National Portrait Gallery"). The print was published by E. Anthony of New York City. The CDV measures 3 3/4 x 2 7/16 inches and is in very good condition. The back has a 19th century handwritten pencil inscription identifying Doubleday.
Abner Doubleday (1819-1893) was a career United States Army officer and Union general in the Civil War. He fired the first shot in defense of Fort Sumter, the opening battle of the war, and had a pivotal role in the early fighting at the Battle of Gettysburg. Gettysburg was his finest hour, but his relief by Major General George Meade caused lasting enmity between the two men. In San Francisco, after the war, he obtained a patent on the cable car railway that still runs there. In his final years in New Jersey, he was a prominent member and later president of the Theosophical Society. Doubleday is often mistakenly credited with having invented baseball, although he never made such a claim, and there is no evidence to support it.

This is a rare Civil War CDV carte de visite of General Fitz John Porter. As can be seen from the back stamp, the albumen photograph was taken by renowned Civil War photographer Matthew Brady. His "National Photographic Portrait Galleries" were in Washington, D.C., and New York City. The CDV measures 4 x 2 3/8 inches and is in very good condition. The upper and right edges have two slight nicks.
Fitz John Porter (1822-1901) was a career United States Army officer and a Union General during the Civil War. He is most known for his performance at the Second Battle of Bull Run and his subsequent court martial. Although Porter served well in the early battles of the Civil War, his military career was ruined by the controversial trial which was called by his political rivals. Afterwards, he worked intensely to restore his tarnished reputation for almost 25 years, when he was finally restored to the army's roll.

2 original rare photos, Boer War Dead in Trenches 1900
2 photos of the dead in trenches at Natal during the Boer War, January 1900. I checked online and learned that while noone had these listed for sale outright, I could “buy the rights” from a vendor to use the image of one of these photos for one day for a mere $185.00. So our beginning price represents an excellent buy for the serious collector. These each measure 8.175” x 6” without the mounting. Condition is as shown in the photos below, and we rate that condition as good with the condition of the mounts being fair-to-good. This is a consignment sale. When can I expect my package?

Is your transit packaging secure?
Great care will be taken to ensure that your item arrives in excellent condition. Prints are shipped flat on cardboard and sealed in a water-resistant envelope or, for posters and maps, rolled in a crush-resistant tube. We've successfully shipped thousands of prints in this manner, which demonstrates a reliability in our packaging methods. Items will arrive in good order when handled properly by postal carriers.
Please note that we pay extra charges to have parcels delivered as PACKAGES, not regular mail. This means your carrier should deliver your package to your doorstep (not bend or cram it into your mailbox). How long do I have to pay?
Payment is expected within (7) seven days. This 7 day period may be used to acquire multiple items for the multiple item shipping discount. If 7 days is insufficient, please submit your payment and we will hold your shipment until you have acquired all your desired purchases. The multiple item discount will be applied on all items shipped together.
If payment is not received by the eighth day after purchase, we will initiate an unpaid item case.
