World War II OPA Ration Token – Blue – Letters ‘X X'

World War II OPA Ration Token – Blue – Letters 'X X'

A Short History of the O.P.A. Token

After Pearl Harbor and the entry of the United States into World War II, a system of rationing was started covering almost every item in daily use including food, gasoline, fuel oil, etc.  Stamps were issued to equal amounts such as 1 stamp equaled 4 gallons of gasoline.  When food was added to the list, there were times when the amount of food could not be supplied in even amounts to agree with the food stamps.  In 1944 the O.P.A. issued tokens for use in making change in consumer sales.  All tokens were 1 point each, red for meats, and blue for processed foods.  They were first issued February 27, 1944 and were in use for about a year.  The Osborne Register Co. of Cincinnati Ohio was the prime contractor in making these tokens.  There were 1,750,000,000 red tokens issued in 30 known combinations of letters, and 1,000,000,000 blue tokens in 24 known letter combinations.  Large quantities of tokens are still available being saved as mementos of the war, along with many ration books and present an interesting field in trying to find a complete set of all the combinations of letters.

I have plenty more different letter. E-mail us with your wants.

We accept payment by PayPal. Shipping is $0.99 for the first item. We combine shipping. $0.50 for each additional item. We ship to USA and Canada. Order will be mailed USPS. Check our other auctions.

4x6 Civil War Photo: Gen. James Ewell Brown JEB Stuart

victoria heilshorn studio -  the best in History

Title -  General James Ewell Brown (JEB) Stuart

Description -  James Ewell Brown Stuart (February 6, 1833 - May 12, 1864), a U.S. Army officer from Virginia and a Confederate States Army general during the Civil War.  He was known to his friends as "Jeb", from the initials of his given names. Stuart was a cavalry commander known for his mastery of reconnaissance and the use of cavalry in support of offensive operations. While he cultivated a cavalier image (red-lined gray cape, yellow sash, hat cocked to the side with a peacock feather, red flower in his lapel, often sporting cologne), his serious work made him the trusted eyes and ears of Robert E. Lee's army and inspired Southern morale.

The quality of historic images are subject to the wearing of time, the capabilities of the original photographer, and limitations of period technology. History affords us no re-takes; we must content ourselves with what has been left to us.  Please note that we do not attempt to fix, enhance or disturb the original image in any way, as we feel these eccentricities add to its historic charm. Thank you for taking this into consideration before making your purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I know your image description is accurate?

We strive to make our photo descriptions as accurate as possible. Descriptions are taken directly from the U.S. Library of Congress, National Archives, or other sources as noted. In many cases, these institutions hold the original negatives and state the ascribed notes directly from the original photographer. Therefore, we use these institutions as our standard of authority on description accuracy. We are not responsible for errors and we will not participate in disputes. Should you have a dispute, please contact the sighted source directly.

This listing provides buyers with the opportunity to review the image and agree or disagree with the item description before finalizing a purchase.  As such, no refunds will be issued on the basis of an allegedly inaccurate description.  We encourage you to feel comfortable with the stated description before ordering.

When can I expect my package?

Items are delivered via USPS First Class mail (2-5 business days) with no longer than one (1) day handling time. Your item should not be considered untimely unless it has not been received after one full week from your payment date (within the United States). Please consider weekends and holidays when anticipating your package arrival date as well.

International delivery times vary depending on location.  While First Class International usually delivers within 7-14 business days, it offers no guarantee on delivery times and may take up to a month.  Please take this into consideration if you are outside the United States and placing a time-sensitive order.

Is your transit packaging secure?

Great care will be taken to ensure that your item arrives in excellent condition.  We've successfully shipped thousands of prints, which demonstrates a reliability in our packaging methods.  Items will arrive in good order when handled properly by postal carriers.

How long do I have to pay?

Payment is expected within (7) seven days. This 7 day period may be used to acquire multiple items for the multiple item shipping discount. If 7 days is insufficient, please submit your payment and we will hold your shipment until you have acquired all your desired purchases. The multiple item discount will be applied on all items shipped together.

If payment is not received by the eighth day after purchase, we will initiate an unpaid item case.  We pay fees on all items sold through eBay and this process is the only way to reverse fees incured by unpaid transactions.  Should a payment issue arise, please don't hesitate to contact us. We're happy to work with you!

What do the S&H charges cover?

The shipping and handling charges associated with this item cover:

Shipping your package Shipping materials such as tubes, envelopes, paper, cardboard, etc. eBay insertion fees eBay final value fees Electronic payment costs such as Paypal transactions fees Transportation costs (applied to international sales only)

Please note our very low auction starting price.  These costs are not included into that price, but rather the shipping and handling portion of the transaction.  This is done to avoid fee double jeopardy:

With eBay's bracketed fee scale, including the selling fees into the starting price would push the sale into a higher fee bracket, resulting in fee double-jeopardy (paying higher fees to recover the cost of fees).  These higher cost would ultimately be passed on to our buyers.  We find this unacceptable, as we are constantly striving to keep our prices as low as possible.  We hope that you will framiliarize youself with our price structure before you bid.  Should you have further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

What is your return policy?

We will happily exchange any defective or problematic merchandise. However, cash refunds are not allowed, as your bid is a commitment to buy according to eBay policy.  The nature of our merchandise also compells us to protect against being treated as a lending library.  Therefore, please be confident of desire for our items before placing your order.  We ask that you contact us with any potential issue before leaving negative feedback, as we are committed to your 100% satisfaction and feel any problem can be easily resolved.

You may be whatever you resolve to be.   -- Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson

4x6 Civil War Photo: Confederate Gen'l George Pickett

victoria heilshorn studio -  the best in History

Title -  Confederate General George Pickett

Description -  Confederate General George Pickett, famous or the ill-fated charge named after him at the battle of Gettysburg, PA, 1863.  Though his division was part of "Pickett's Charge", Pickett himself was not the leading commander, and therefore a more appropriate name would have been "Longstreet's Charge" after 1st Corps (ANV) commander James Longstreet.

World War II OPA Ration Token – Blue – Letters ‘H V’

World War II OPA Ration Token – Blue – Letters ‘H V’

Scan is of actual item you will receive. We accept payment by PayPal. Shipping is $0.99 for the first item. We combine shipping. $0.50 for each additional item. We ship to USA and Canada. Order will be mailed USPS. Check our other auctions.

1943 Third War Loan US Treasury Dept. Citation Certificate

This sale is for a 1943 Third War Loan US Treasury Dept. Citation Certificate.  The certificate came from a very clean, smoke free estate sale.  It is in excellent condition with paper yellowing consistent with age. The upper right corner has a bend and there is a crease across the paper. It is clean and odor free.  We are listing others from the same estate separately.  The printing date on the certificate is 10-26-43.

Please check our store and auction items for more great values. To make shopping easy, we have items organized in our store by department and by section within department. There are more vintage military items in our Antiques and Collectibles Department, Military Section and in the Postcards and Paper Section.

We are always pleased to combine shipping to save you money. An additional item usually adds $1 or less to the total shipping cost.  You pay only the actual shipping cost. There is no sales tax and never a handling fee.

Shipping Notes:

·         Please note media mail is slow – especially in urban locations.

ORIGINAL VIETNAM WAR ERA US ARMY COTTON SATEEN COVERALLS SIZE SMALL (42)

ORIGINAL VIETNAM WAR ERA US ARMY COTTON SATEEN COVERALLS SIZE SMALL (42)

This is an original pair of Men's Sateen Coveralls in size Small (42).  The label has a DSA stock number which dates these to the Vietnam War era.  These are well used but clean and surprisingly in pretty good shape with all buttons and straps still intact.  There is a hole in the bottom of the pant leg (see picture #3) and some light stains on one leg.  The name, "MARTIN" is stenciled over the left breast pocket as well.  I measured these out at:

Shoulder to Shoulder:  17"

Armpit to Armpit:  19"

Inseam:  26"

Waist:  15" (x2 equals a 30 inch waist)

I will also combine auctions and accept local pick up. I recently have been having good luck once again selling to some overseas locations. I will start to ship to Australia, Canada, Japan and might test other areas, but will still not ship to certain parts of Europe, noteably Germany, Italy and France nor will I ship to APO's. However, certain items CANNOT be shipped outside the United States such as military radio equipment. I will not bend, tweek or break any laws restricting the shipping of certain items.

Comes from a smoke free home, feel free to ask questions.

PAYPAL ONLY, I will ship within 3 business days of receipt of payment.  I will only charge for shipping.  I will NOT charge or pad my auction with handling charges.  If there is an overcharge in shipping I will refund the difference.

ABOUT HANDLING CHARGES: I still hate handling charges and view them as a loop hole for some unreputable sellers to increase their profits.  I won't use handling charges unless a buyer requests special services.

ABOUT POSTAGE RATES.  I do refund any excess postage the eBay shipping calculator charges if and when it happens and it does.  If postage comes out to more, I eat that cost so I try to be careful about postage.  I never deliberately try to increase profit by boosting postage.  That has been suggested by a couple of people.  You know what?  Just because you had something shipped from somebody that came from someplace else cheaper doesn't mean it's that cost for all 50 states.  And size of the box determines excess postage sometimes.  When anything gets over 12 inches in width, length or depth some postage goes sky high.  That's why I OFFER OPTIONS, because some postage will be much cheaper.  I had one brainiack tell me something was outrageous and yes, the Priority shipping was very high, but if Dr. Spock there had bothered to look at the optional shipping he would have seen it could have been shipped three times cheaper via Parcel Post.  Sometimes when this happens and I notice it I try to bring that to the attention of the buyer and will refund if they made a mistake after payment.  You would be surprised to know how many people just accept Priority shipping without even thinking or looking at the optional shipping rates.

NO I WILL NOT GIVE A DAMAGE REFUND OR DISCOUNT if it's damaged in transit.  You DO have a FOURTEEN DAY RIGHT OF INSPECTION and return it (at buyer's cost) for a full refund of the auction bid amount.  I have had more than one person tell me they wanted some money back for damage they wouldn't prove.  Basically they wanted to get a kick back for what they bought.  It's doesn't mean I won't work with somebody if it's a reasonable request, but sometimes people just have to have a little something extra after all is said and done.  I try to pack things as best I can, and if I feel I was amiss on that I will gladly work with somebody.  Sometimes I forget people value boxes and packaging and I can feel their pain so if I feel I didn't package something good enough I am more than happy to work with someone.  Most of the time I am very careful although I do try to use whatever boxes I can find instead of buying them to keep from charging a handling fee.

RESTRICTED INTERNATIONAL SALES AND NO APO ADDRESSES!   I'm sorry, but I've had to many problems shipping out of the United States and will not do so any longer, SEE ABOVE FOR EXCEPTIONS.  The last person I shipped to at an APO address turned out to be in Japan and that cost me $160.00.  I am VERY sorry if your kid has a birthday and a rare uncurable disease (I really had a buyer tell me this), but I am not here to save the world, only sell an item and it may not be fair to you to exclude you from this sale or sell it out from under everyone else, but I don't think it's fair to change the rules of an auction and cut everyone else out.  However, if I am offered enough to retire and buy an offshore island I might consider ending this auction early and ignoring my morals.  I try to be honest and fair, please don't ask me to do otherwise.

PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED WITHIN 5 DAYS.  Or I will file a claim with eBay and relist item for sale.

Original Iraq War "Most Wanted" Playing Cards (2003)

These are the Original playing cards. All the reproductions have the camo boxes. The cards you are bidding on are sealed in plastic in an un-opened box with the box seal from the company that made them. Please read about the cards below and also follow the link at the bottom to verify that these are in fact the original cards. Any questions, please feel free to ask.

In the 2003 invasion of Iraq by a United States-led coalition, the U.S. military developed a set of playing cards to help troops identify the most-wanted members of President Saddam Hussein's government, mostly high-ranking Baath Party members or members of the Revolutionary Command Council. The cards were officially named the "personality identification playing cards".

Each card contains the wanted person's name, a picture if available, and the job performed by that individual. The highest-ranking cards, starting with the aces and kings, were used for the people at the top of the most-wanted list. The ace of spades is Saddam Hussein, the aces of clubs and hearts are his sons Qusay and Uday respectively, and the ace of diamonds is Saddam's presidential secretary Abid Hamid Mahmud al-Tikriti. This strict correspondence to the order of the most-wanted list was not carried through the entire deck, but some time later in 2003, the list itself was renumbered to conform (almost) to the deck of cards.

Texas-based Liberty Playing Card Co. received an order to manufacture the cards for the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait and by claiming to be "the authorized government contractor" quickly became another popular domestic supplier for the commercial market. The U.S. military inadvertently included in the jokers the trademarked Hoyle joker owned by the United States Playing Card Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. Although The U.S. Playing Card company does not object to the government's use of the image, they do object to other companies using the trademarked image. Thus, in some sense, the U.S. military inadvertently granted The U.S. Playing Card Company exclusive rights to manufacture the authentic decks, if the trademarked images on the jokers are considered a requirement for being authentic.

All Information can be verified that these are in fact the original cards by checking the link below.

World War II OPA Ration Token – Blue – Letters ‘U U’

World War II OPA Ration Token – Blue – Letters 'U U’
