Scarce classic index volume to theOfficial Records of the Union and Confederate Navies in the War of the Rebellion.  Prepared by the Office of Naval Records and Library, now the Naval History and Heritage Command.  First published 1927 by GPO, this editionpublished 1961 by Antiquarian Press Ltd., New York, with a new introduction byPhilip Van Dorn Stern telling the story of the production of the volumes of boththe official Army and Navy records.  Hardback,total 457 pages plus xviii preliminary pages. This is a quality hardbound book, not a CD or recent paperback reprint.  (Dealers are listing paperback reprints at $50 each or more.)  Format 9.3 x 6.3 x 1.8 inches, weight just alittle over 2 pounds.  This edition also addsa day-by-day calendar for the years of the war plus a summary list of contents the30 volumes of naval records published in this series, not present in theoriginal 1927 edition.  Invaluable forthe exploitation of the 30 volumes of records in the official records series.  No illustrations.  Book is in used but good condition.  Originalcellophane wrappers, fragile and showing some wear, see photo.  Cover boards intact, binding very tight, indeed this books never seems to have been used.  No tears, marks or writing anywhere insidethis book.  No shelf wear.  Pleaseask any questions of seller prior to bidding.  Shipping costs to domesticUSA addresses include delivery confirmation.  Overseas buyers, pleasecontact seller for shipping costs and information prior to making anypayment.  International shipments weighing over 4 pounds must go byInternational Priority Mail.  Merchandise will be cited as such oninvoices.  Contact seller for information on shipping cost discounts forcombined purchases.  Please, payment by PayPal only.
