It is very hard to describe this book properly, but in a nut shell it is as titled in the service of the great war, it is especially interesting to people of Southwest, Washington as it is focusing on the soldiers and sailors serving from this area it has many photographs and Bios of the differant men, also included is the diffarant civilian support groups that gave thier time and money to help the war effort, I am sure you will find many realitives and friends in this publication, also included is short historical excerts from SW, Wa and Lewis County, It has 218 pages all intact, the cover is heavy paper and a little raggetty around the edges, but the contents are good no dog ears or other distractions.

WW1 ERA MASSACHUSETTS STATE GUARD WAR SERVICE LAPEL BUTTON

This is a nice WW1 era lapel bbutton issued to Veterans who served with the Massachusetts State Guard during World War 1.
Features the same theme as the Massachusett's State Seal, with the Algonguin Indian holding a bow and a five pointed star to the left. The dates "1917 1920" are on either side of the Indian. Around the edge is the wording "MASSACHUSETTS STATE GUARD WAR SERVICE".
It is a one piece lapel button. Antiqued bronze.
Marked on the back "WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO, NEWARK, N.J.".
Measures about 5/8" across.
Exceptional original condition, this lapel button shows very minimal wear and rub. See pictures.
