5th Air Force US Army Complete WW II Album & Post War

Tiny’s Photos

World War Two collector’s treasure

The photo album cover is made of metal held together with nuts & bolts. My dad hand painted the cover and labeled most of the picture. The case is made out of a very stiff canvas the flags on the outside flap are the places he went. The flag on the inside flap is where he wished he was. The album contains over 55 page with photos on both sides. The front part is filled with half naked native girls, planes, dead bodies, destruction & the pin up girls painted on the planes. There are a few pictures which appear to be a U.S.O show of some sort. The 2nd part of the album appear to be taken in the USA, but probably while he was still serving his country.

c1620 Complete Set Of Cuirassier Armour

c1620 Complete Set Of Cuirassier Armour

This is a composite set of wrought iron Anglo-Dutch cuirassier armour all c1620 except for the helmet which we are uncertain of. A pair of quality Victorian sabatons are included, though these are not strictly necessary as cuirassiers normally had 3/4 armour and riding boots - the display would be complete without them.

The suit measures 6ft 1 inches/185cm tall without the stand.

1. Cuirassier helmet of Savoy type made of wrought iron with hook clasps. Similar to several in the Leeds Armoury. This is the only piece we are not certain of the date as the neckline 'rivets' are indentations. It could be c1620 or a Victorian quality copy - we have priced up the helmet assuming it is Victorian copy, so if it turns out to be original, thats your gain - actually where we bought it from, the helmet was thought to be original but I am playing on the side of caution.

2. Pair of c1620 pauldrons (shoulder) with iron rivets with associated couter (elbow) and arm armour

3. 17c gorget (neck) collar of 2 part construction (some rivets missing) with makers mark

4. Early 17th century gauntlets (gloves) of good quality with line decoration

5. Fine quality Cuirass, comprising :-

Heavy back plate with lines radiating out onExcellent culet (read armour) with small horizontal lames with rare decorative rivetsHeavy breast plate with 3 lower plates to hold the tassets - peescod formAlso included is a set of 19th Century sabatons (foot armour) of good quality and heavy form, though strictly cuirassiers did not wear these.

Please check my feedback for other armour & helmets so you know that I am a reputable seller.

~ Postage ~

International buyers, please ask for a postage quote -  The stand may be included if you want it but this will increase the postage costs.

~ Cuirassiers ~

Cuirassiers were mounted cavalry soldiers equipped with armour and firearms, they were the successors of the medieval armoured knights. They wore 3/4 armour ie all but below the knee and their main weapon was a pair of pistols in saddle holsters, though that might be backed up with a sword or horsemans pick. They would use a caracole formation, whereby the cuirassiers fired their pistols at the enemy, then retired to reload whilst their comrades advanced in turn to maintain the firing.
