What you're bidding on right now...

Robert E. Lee Fairwell Address

This is a wonderful, full color reproduction of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, one of the most brilliant millitary minds in American history- along with a very realistic reproduction of his hand written fairwell address to his troops upon his historic, civil war ending surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia in March 1865.  A very historic item!

Condition: This is a brand new print of both items, in full color, made to look as close to the original as possible. The professional mat as shown in the example photo IS included. The frame is NOT included. (A frame may be purchased for this item separately from us or any local art supplier. It will fit nicely in an 11X14 frame.)

What kind of store is this, anyway?

Short answer: THE BEST KIND! Longer answer: We built this store for one reason, to buy, sell and trade anything historic. We're huge history buffs, and we've worked hard to develop a place where you can indulge your passion for the past with us!

This isn't like other stores you've seen. We sell much more than antiques and collectables. Real history buffs don't just collect stuff, they like to read history books, decorate their walls with historic documents and prints, hold history in their hands like an old coin or a revolutionary war bullet. We took all of the things we love, and built the kind of store we'd love to shop in!

Because our store is so big, you really should browse in an organized way. Begin at our store home page, and select the department you're most interested in. Here's some of what's in store for you...

Use this map as an example of the detail on most of our others

WWII Letter 1946 Prisoner Of War Killed WW II 2 WW2 46

An original World War Two related letter including the envelope written by Irving Conniwell.  The envelope is postmarked 1946. In the letter he talks about a prisoner of war being killed. The letter reads:

Dearest Sweetheart;

Another day finished Honey and no letter for me today......about nine o'clock this morning one of my PWs was killed.  He was working on a machine that lifts lumber....the machine toppled over and killed him instantly.  Naturally there has been investigations all day and I wouldn't doubt but what there'll be more tomorrow.  It was an accident but my personal belief is that it was due to reckless handling of the machine by the driver of it.  He is an island boy about eighteen and expected to be drafted tomorrow.  I suppose because it's a PW he'll be cleared of all charges but if I had anything to do with it, he'd be up for manslaughter...........There isn't much more that I can tell you about the death of the PW.  I didn't see it happen so all anyone can tell is from the stories the ones that saw it tell.  The only witnesses to the accident were the driver and the PWs.  If I see anything in the papers about it I'll clip them out for you.........................Irv

The letter is in very good condition, with some light wear.

WWII Letter 1945 Prisoner Of War Watch Stolen WW II 2 N

An original World War Two letter including the envelope written by Irving Conniwell.  The letter is dated Sept. 19, 1945. In the letter he talks about a prisoner of war who says he had his watch stolen. The letter reads:

Dearest Sweetheart,

Getting an early start on your letter for today but I haven't much to write about as it has been an unusually dead day today........Once more I am interupted this time about a watch that one of the PWs claims to have had stolen from him by a colored soldier.  We have been investigating the watch deal for about two weeks already.  I have a watch now and the PW claims it is his but the fellow from whom I got the watch says he bought it in the PX.  Pretty mixed up as there are so many of the same types of watches sold at the PX.  I think that the best thing to do is to forget all about the PWs claim as after all he is a PW and who is he to say that an american soldier stole his watch.  These Koreans have been trying to pin something on the colored boys for a long time.  Most of our troubles up here revolves around the PWs and the colored troops who are stationed here....................................Irv

An original World War Two letter including the envelope written by Irving Conniwell.  The envelope is postmarked Aug 19 1943. In the letter he talks about a tommy gun. The letter reads:

Dearest Nettie;

Got letter from you today........We had early chow 1120 and fell out at 1220 to go to range where we fired the 45 caliber tommy gun.  They're a nice gun to fire.  Fires at about 700 shots a minute.  We only fired 24 shells just to acquaint us with gun............................Irv

WWI Letter 1918 German Prisoner Of War WW I 1 POW WW1 N

An original World War One envelope that has a letter written on it.  On the envelope it says, "Prisoners Of War." The letter is dated 1918 from England.  The letter appears to be written in a European language, the person I bought this from says it is written in German.  I assume the writer is a German prisoner of war in England. The envelope has the send to address of a person in Syracuse, New York.  I'm not sure why a German prisoner of war would be writing to someone in America if that's what he was.

The envelope has some tear marks the largest is around a couple inches, there is some pieces missing, it does not affect the reading of the letter, it looks like it takes out part of the return address.
