The six volumes are as follows:

VOL I-From the Foudation of Cape Colony to the Boer Ultimatum of 9th Oct. 1899

VOL II-From the Commencement of the War to the Battle of Colenso, 15th Dec 1899.

VOL III-From the Battle of Colenso, 15th Dec 1899, to Lord Roberts's Advance into the Free State, 12th Feb 1900.

Vol IV-From Lord Roberts's Entry into the Free State to the Battle of Karree.

VOL V-From the Disaster at Koorn to Lord Roberts's Entry into Pretoria.

VOL VI-From the Occupation of Pretoria to Mr. Kruger's Departure from South Africa, with a Summarised Account of the

Guerilla War to March 1901.

The books are bound in cream hardback bindings, with identical decoration/illustration and lettering to each volume. They were printed by Ballantyne, Hanson & Co. Edinburgh and London. There are a total between the six vols of 48 colour plates, 96 full page plates (b & w), 48 portraits, and 125 maps (including colour & foldout) and engravings in the text. Containing a total of approx 1500 pages, with dimensions to eac volume of 10" x 7.5" x 1" thick, and the combined weight is 5.8kg unpacked.

The condition of the bindings are fair, but they do have some staining and grubby marks to boards. All covers and hinges are firmly secure though with no splitting or weakness to any of them. Contents to all volumes are in excellent order, they are clean and bright, without any damage (rips, tears, etc), there is no foxing, marking or inscriptions present, and text blocks are all firm and secure with no missing, detached or loose pages.

Refund is accepted if you are not completely satisfied or feel the book is not as described with no questions asked.

Insurance is automtically included in UK postage and overseas shipping costs. UK insurance is covered for upto £46 by Standard Parcel (£12.90), or for upto £500 by Special Next Day Delivery (cost £22.95). Overseas insurance is covered for upto £46 by standard airmail or Surface Mail services, but if any item exceeds this amount then buyer is required to pay for additional and enhanced cover (approx an additional $10), and this applies to UK also. If this set sells to an overseas winning bidder then they will be sent in two parcels/packages, with three books in each, and to reduce shipping costs as otherwise will be very expensive to ship.
