This is an original 1865 edition of "Nurse and Spy in the Union Army: Comprising The Adventures and Experiences of a Woman in Hospitals, Camps and Battle-Fields" by S. Emma E. Edmonds.
Published by subscription only: W.S. Williams, Harford, Conn.; Jones Bros., Philadelphia & Cincinnati; and J.A. Stoddard, Chicago. The book measures 8.5 x 6.5 inches and is leather-bound.
This is a very well-worn copy. More than half of the leather on the spine is gone, the front hinge is loose and the frontispiece (a picture of the author) has been removed. But the text is relatively clean (only very light foxing throughout) and the rest of the plates are present. Overall, a nice piece of original Civil War history.
