Famous Adventures & Prison Escapes of the Civil War, 1898 Libby Prison

“Famous Adventures and Prison Escapes of the Civil War" edited by George W. Cable, New York: The Century Company 1898. This book makes a nice companion to the Century's "Battles and Leaders of the Civil War" set and the 'Civil War Memoranda' series published in its monthly magazine through the late 1800s. This book does have quite a few illustrations, however, most of them are "within" text.

The following are the chapter titles to be found within:

War Diary of a Union Woman in the SouthThe Locomotive Chase in GeorgiaMosby's "Partizan Rangers"A Romance of Morgan's Rough-RidersColonel Rose's Tunnel at Libby PrisonA Hard Road to Travel Out of DixieEscape of General Breckenridge

Condition: This ex-libris book and its 338 pages is in good condition, the pages exhibit modest to very light toning, there is no noteworthy foxing, soiling, staining, damp-staining to be found throughout. The bindings are still in good order, the hinges are intact. The covers, spine cover and page ends exhibit soiling and scuffing from use, all of which is well represented in scans below.
